GTA 6 Fans Disappointed by $400 Collector’s Box Lacking the Game: “We Asked for Jason and Lucia, But Got an Alligator”

Earlier today, Rockstar Games unveiled a $400 collector’s box for Grand Theft Auto 6 that, surprisingly, doesn’t include the game itself. Instead, it features a variety of Vice City-themed items, such as Oakley sunglasses, a shot glass, a vinyl statue, and more. Reactions to this pricey bundle have been mixed, with many fans expressing disappointment over the cartoonish artwork and designs.

On Thursday, pre-orders opened for the “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection” box, set to launch on November 19 alongside the game. This collection is packed with merchandise inspired by a fictional TV show that players will likely encounter in-game. Among the items are a pink alligator statue, enamel pins featuring characters from the in-universe cartoon, and a double-sided poster showcasing a map of Vice City along with characters from the show. The concept has raised eyebrows, especially since fans have yet to see the fake show, and the high price tag, combined with the cartoonish elements and absence of the game, has led many in the GTA community to criticize the $400 box.

“Bros come on, could’ve included the game at least for that price,” commented a GTA modder on social media in response to the reveal.

“Everything about GTA VI’s marketing campaign feels like it’s tailor-made for people who finance everything on Kalshi,” remarked a user on Bluesky.

“$400 for an ugly statue and some cheap hats and a shot glass with no game included is insane. Will pass,” another user stated on Twitter.

“This looks like crap and $400 with no game? ARE WE JOKING?” another user posted.

“Included useless garbage for $400, I’ll pass,” said one fan.

“I generally don’t wish for games to fail, but I really wish this one would,” expressed another user on Bluesky regarding the bundle.

“This is the first time I have had the money to buy the Rockstar Collector’s Edition, which I had been waiting for, but it is disappointing and not worth it,” replied a fan to a GTA content creator showcasing the collector’s box.

“See, I quite like the collection, but I do wish we got a Jason & Lucia statue of some kind,” another user shared. “Maybe a different brand of glasses to lower the cost and include a T-shirt as well. I think it’s definitely the price that’s putting a damper on the set, but I believe there will be more.”

“We wanted Jason and Lucia — and we got an alligator instead,” lamented one fan, adding a crying emoji to their tweet.

This sentiment seems to resonate with many, as fans are voicing their desire for a Jason and Lucia statue or items more closely tied to GTA 6 and the franchise, rather than cartoon characters from a fictional show. Personally, as a dedicated GTA fan, I have no interest in spending $400 on the contents of this box. Many are hoping Rockstar will either lower the price or offer additional special merchandise in the future. While it’s likely that more GTA 6-themed items will be available soon, it seems improbable that the price of this collector’s box will decrease anytime soon.
