The Division’s latest installment faces off against Zelda.
The Division 2 is gearing up to take players into one of New York City’s most iconic spots, coinciding almost perfectly with a return to Hyrule for fans of another beloved franchise.
Ubisoft has announced that The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park will launch on November 3, just two days before The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time makes its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5. While Link prepares for another adventure in Hyrule, Division agents will be venturing into a very different kind of legendary landscape.
In a recent gameplay reveal, Ubisoft showcased the DLC, providing a detailed look at the expansion following its initial announcement at Gamescom.
This timing could be a gamble for Ubisoft, as Echoes of Central Park releases just ahead of a major remake of a classic title. However, the two games may appeal to distinct audiences, allowing both to thrive.
Echoes of Central Park will finally allow players to explore Central Park within The Division series. Once a mass burial site during the initial outbreak, the park has transformed into a dense, eerie environment filled with rumors of what might be hidden within.
The story kicks off when the Division intercepts a distress signal from deep within the park. Agents are dispatched to investigate, only to confront a mysterious new threat, reports of missing persons, brutal killings, and increasingly strange tales about the creatures lurking in the woods. Ubisoft is embracing a more horror-centric approach than in previous expansions, centering the narrative around themes of paranoia and the power of rumors.
The expansion also introduces the Upper West Side, with a new map that spans from Lincoln Square to the Dakota District. Players can engage in the campaign solo or team up in co-op mode, accompanied by three new allies: Brayleigh Callahan, Elwood Franklin, and Morse Feeney.
Additionally, a new endgame system will initially place players in the role of the hunted, stripped of their usual tech and advantages. As they uncover the secrets of Central Park and gather new gear, they can eventually turn the tables and become the hunters.
Players can also look forward to six new skill variants, a fresh gear set, and an Exotic weapon called The Ratel, all included in the DLC.
The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park launches on November 3 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
It’s been a challenging few months for Team Green.
