Evil Dead Burn Set to Stream on HBO Max Just in Time for Halloween

Evil Dead Burn is set to hit HBO Max just in time for Halloween. This latest installment in the franchise premiered in theaters on July 10, 2026, raking in $72.3 million against a $20 million budget. It received generally favorable reviews, with critics highlighting its effective scares and impressive effects, which helped compensate for some underdeveloped characters.

Starting October 2, Evil Dead Burn will be available for streaming on HBO Max, having previously been released for purchase and rental on digital platforms on August 4. The film centers on the Price family and their disastrous encounter with demonic forces. When Joseph Price inadvertently uncovers an ancient spell that hides a demon-slaying dagger, malevolent creatures emerge to claim the blade, leading to chaos and tragedy. Unlike the 2013 reboot, this film maintains a direct connection to its predecessor, 2023’s Evil Dead Rise.

Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, known for the horror film Infested, Evil Dead Burn features Souheila Yacoub (Climax, Dune: Part Two) as Alice Price, who is grappling with her husband’s death alongside her in-laws when horrific events unfold.

The original The Evil Dead, released in 1981 on a shoestring budget, became a cult classic, blending schlock, comedy, and horror. Sam Raimi returned to the franchise with Evil Dead 2 in 1987, often regarded as the best film in the series. He wrapped up his trilogy featuring Ash Williams with the time-travel adventure Army of Darkness in 1992.

In 2015, Raimi revisited the series with Ash vs Evil Dead, a TV show set after the third film, starring Bruce Campbell as Ash, who must confront evil forces after three decades of inactivity. The series ran for three seasons before its cancellation in 2018.

The more recent films include Fede Alvarez’s 2013 standalone sequel, Evil Dead, along with 2023’s Evil Dead Rise and 2026’s Evil Dead Burn. Given that the original was a niche film for horror enthusiasts, having six movies and a TV show is quite an achievement.

A fan-favorite character makes their return.
