RuneScape: Dragonwilds Developers Acknowledge Switch 2 Port Issues, Commit to Enhancements and Accurate Eshop Screenshots
After a stint in Early Access on Steam, RuneScape: Dragonwilds launched on consoles last week, accompanied by a significant 1.0 update. Players on PS5 and Xbox are enjoying the game, but the reception on Nintendo’s Switch 2 has been less favorable, with users voicing concerns about blurry visuals and subpar graphics. The developers are aware of these issues and are committed to enhancing this version, though it may take some time.
Shortly after the release of RuneScape: Dragonwilds on Switch 2, players began reporting dissatisfaction with the game’s graphics. While many noted that the survival crafting experience runs smoothly, the overall visual quality has drawn criticism, particularly regarding shadows and lighting, which appear rough on the Switch 2, along with noticeable blurriness when played on a TV. In response to this feedback, the developer shared a detailed message with Switch 2 users.
“The Switch 2 build is not where we want it to be today, visually,” the developer stated. “As a dev team and as fans of Nintendo, we are not fully satisfied with the game’s performance on Switch 2, and we are dedicated to improving the visuals. Support for Dragonwilds is a long-term commitment for us, including the Switch 2 version.”
While the team is pleased with the game’s framerate on Switch 2, they are focused on enhancing image clarity and planning an engine overhaul. However, they cautioned that “it will take time” and that improvements will not be delivered in a single update but rather through an “incremental” approach.
“What we can promise is that we will update the game whenever we achieve visual enhancements,” they added. “Expect this to come in the form of several patches over time.”
The developer also addressed concerns from players who felt that the version of Dragonwilds on Switch 2 did not match the screenshots currently displayed on the Nintendo eShop. They confirmed that new assets have been sent to Nintendo for the store page that better reflect the game’s actual appearance on Switch 2 hardware.
“We’re committed to ensuring that Dragonwilds looks and plays its best on handheld consoles alongside our other platforms,” the developer concluded. “We appreciate your feedback and support as we continue our journey beyond 1.0.”
