Unlocking the Ursine Armor in The Witcher 3: A Guide

The Ursine armor is a beloved choice in The Witcher 3, known for its impressive damage resistance as the only heavy witcher gear set available. It includes four armor pieces, two swords, and a crossbow.

To find the basic Ursine armor diagrams, head to the northeast of Skellige, specifically to the ruined castle on Urialla Isle, located near the top of the Yngvar’s Fang trail. The route is detailed in the accompanying video, but you can also fast travel to Urialla Harbor and then:

Forge the armor at the armorers in Crow’s Perch, Novigrad, or Kaer Trolde, keeping in mind the level 20 requirement to equip it.

The chest containing the diagrams is positioned just to the right of the throne. Be cautious, as taking the diagrams and pulling the lever to exit will trigger a fight with three wraiths.

Inside the diagram chest, you’ll also find the Chronicles of Clan Tuirseach, which reveals the locations for the Ursine Crossbow and Ursine Silver Sword:

– The Siren’s Cave on Svorlag in northwest Skellige, past the Old Watchtower to the south. Be ready to face numerous drowners.
– The ruins of Fort Etnir in the northern part of the central island. Follow the trail east and then north of Rogne, where you’ll encounter two gargoyles.

– In the basement of the ruined inn located in the southern area of the central island. Travel southeast from Fyresdal and prepare for battles against sirens and wraiths in the inn’s basement.

Once you’ve crafted the basic armor, you can upgrade it to enhanced, superior, and mastercrafted versions by locating the relevant diagrams. All upgrade locations can be obtained by purchasing Ibrahim Savi’s first, second, third, and fourth maps from the Kaer Trolde Armorer and following the quest markers.
