New Color Options for Amazon’s Upcoming Entry-Level Kindle Surface Online

Amazon usually rolls out new Kindle models a few months before the holiday shopping rush, and this year, it seems the entry-level Kindle is set for a more substantial update than what was seen in 2024. The previous upgrades for the basic Kindle were fairly modest, featuring a brighter backlight, a new dark mode, and quicker page turns. However, leaked images suggest that the upcoming version will sport a slight redesign along with a broader range of color options.

The last entry-level Kindle was offered in black and matcha green, but the leaked images hint at new colors, including light blue, green, and mauve, alongside the classic black.

A compelling reason for current Kindle users to consider an upgrade is the repositioning of the power button from the bottom to the top right edge of the device. This change could help prevent accidental sleep mode activation when the e-reader is laid down while reading. The leaked images also indicate that the new Kindle will feature more rounded corners on its screen. Speculation suggests that there may be multiple versions available, potentially offering different display features.

Details about other enhancements for the entry-level Kindle remain under wraps, including the type of E Ink screen it will utilize, storage capacity, battery life, and pricing. The 2024 basic Kindle initially launched at $109.99, but Amazon recently raised the price to $149.99 due to “significant increases in memory and storage component costs.”
