Polaroid’s latest instant camera features four innovative shooting modes for creative exploration.
Polaroid has unveiled an exciting new instant camera designed to elevate the creative potential for photographers beyond just tweaking aperture or shutter speed. The Polaroid Mod features a Brightness dial on the front for exposure adjustments, along with a unique dial around the lens that allows users to switch between four distinct “creative shooting modes,” each offering its own analog effects captured directly in-camera. This innovative camera is now available globally for $169.99 through Polaroid’s online store, with additional availability at US retailers starting October 6th.
Among the creative modes, two stand out for their ability to combine multiple exposures into a single image. The Double Exposure mode layers two images on top of each other, allowing for a blend of subjects or scenes, while the Split Shot mode divides the frame into two halves using a rotating accessory that blocks half the lens at a time.
Light Painting mode captures stunning light trails from sources like flashlights or sparklers during long exposures, all while the camera remains steady on a tripod to prevent blurring of static elements. Motion Freeze mode utilizes a slower shutter speed to create motion trails of a moving subject, combining this with a sharp image captured by the Mod’s flash at the end of the exposure.
The Polaroid Mod is compatible with Polaroid i-Type and 600 film stocks, available in both color and black and white. With a fully charged 750mAh battery, it can shoot up to 15 packs of film, translating to a maximum of 120 exposures. The camera employs a fixed focus two-lens system, featuring a 103mm standard lens and a 95mm portrait lens that can be swapped based on the subject matter.
