Lego to retire popular Star Wars and X-Men sets in 2026

Most Lego sets are designed for a good time, not a long time. The Lego Company frequently phases out older builds to make way for fresh creations. Once stock depletes in stores, these sets become available only through secondary markets like eBay, often at prices significantly higher than their original retail value. Recently, a list was compiled detailing every Lego set slated for discontinuation by the end of 2026, and it includes some major fan favorites. Iconic franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Jurassic World, Mario, Animal Crossing, and One Piece are all seeing sets retire. Here are five standout sets that are on their way out.

When it comes to Star Wars Legos, Han Solo’s iconic Millennium Falcon is often the first to pop into mind. This latest iteration may not be the first Lego version of the ship, but it’s touted as “the largest, most detailed Lego® Star Wars Millennium Falcon model we’ve ever created.” With a staggering 7,541 pieces, it carries a hefty price tag of $849.99. Released nearly a decade ago on September 14, 2017, it holds the title for the longest-running set being retired on December 31, 2026.

The X-Men’s headquarters is always under siege, as depicted in the X-Men: The X-Mansion set. This 3,093-piece build features a Sentinel attacking Xavier’s school, with Professor X, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Jean Grey, Bishop, Gambit, and Cyclops teaming up with Magneto to take down the robot. Launched on November 1, 2024, it retails for $329.99.

Almost every version of Batman’s Batmobile has been crafted in Lego form, but the Batman Forever Batmobile stands out. This model of Bruce Wayne’s sleek ride from the 1995 film directed by Val Kilmer consists of 909 pieces and is priced at $99.99. While it may not be as impressive as this year’s Batman Returns Batmobile, it’s definitely more budget-friendly.

Another Star Wars entry, the Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser, is a massive set that serves as the in-universe predecessor to the legendary Death Star. This colossal build features 5,374 pieces and comes with a price tag of $649.99. It has been available since October 1, 2023.

Remember the Minecraft movie and its unexpected popularity thanks to a baby zombie riding a chicken? The Minecraft Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring Lego set captures this quirky scene. Whether you’re looking to gift it to a friend who adores the Chicken Jockey or simply appreciate its ironic charm, this set won’t be around for long. It includes 491 pieces and is priced at $49.99, making it one of the more affordable options on this list.
