Nintendo announces upcoming physical edition of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched last fall and quickly became a hit, selling over 12 million copies by the end of 2025. An expansion called Mega Dimension was released before the year wrapped up, allowing players to dive into a twisted version of Lumiose City packed with new Pokémon.

If you’re a Pokémon enthusiast who hasn’t yet roamed the streets of Lumiose City, there’s good news. On Wednesday, a new physical edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced, bundling the base game with the Mega Dimension DLC. True to Nintendo’s style, it comes with a lengthy title: Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension.

This edition will feature both the game and the Mega Dimension DLC on a single cartridge, which is great for collectors of physical media. Plus, if you grab this new bundle, you’ll receive a code for a Mystery Gift of 100 Ultra Balls.

Interestingly, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition will also be compatible with the original Nintendo Switch console. However, a press release clarified that while playing the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on the original system, the content will mirror that of the standard Nintendo Switch version. Any additional features that take advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2’s specs won’t be included.

As for pricing, Nintendo hasn’t revealed the cost for the physical bundle yet. The digital version of the base game and its DLC is currently priced at $99.99, so the physical edition might be set around the same mark. Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension is set to launch on October 29.

While I found the base game of Pokémon Legends: Z-A enjoyable (it even made it into the top 50 games of 2025), I was less impressed with the Mega Dimension DLC. In my review, I noted, “Too much of the DLC’s experience is padded out by grinding for the sake of grinding. Like a stodgy cake lacking strong flavor, Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Mega Dimension might be best nibbled and ultimately left alone.”
