October’s PS Plus Games on PlayStation Lack a Spooky Vibe
The leaves are turning vibrant shades, the air is crisp, and pumpkins are popping up everywhere. That’s right, October is here, ushering in the spooky season along with a fresh lineup of free PS Plus games, including one that fits the eerie vibe perfectly.
On September 30, PlayStation unveiled the games for October that will be available to all PS Plus subscribers across every tier. These titles will be up for grabs starting October 6, and once you add them to your library, you can download and play them anytime as long as you maintain an active PS Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium subscription.
Here’s what you can look forward to and the platforms they’re available on:
Make sure to snag these PS Plus monthly games before they disappear on November 2. After that date, a new selection of unannounced games will take their place for subscribers.
I have to admit, I’m a bit let down that only one game, the PvPvE multiplayer shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896, has that spooky flair. Come on, Sony! It’s October! A proper horror game or something Halloween-themed would have been a great addition. Instead, we get F1 25, which is a solid racing title but definitely not scary. And the only thing frightening about that blocky EDF spin-off is that I somehow missed its launch entirely. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me—that’s a bit spooky and sad.
Regardless, I’m looking forward to diving into Hunt: Showdown, a game I’ve had my eye on for a while but hesitated to buy since I wasn’t sure my friends would join in. Now that it’s free on PS Plus this month, they have no excuse! I’m ready to hunt in those creepy swamps and woods, taking on zombies and friends alike.
And don’t forget to claim September’s free games for your PlayStation library. You have until October 5 to grab Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes.
