New Uncharted Game in Development at Naughty Dog

Fans have long speculated about the possibility of Uncharted 5 becoming a reality. A recent report suggests that Naughty Dog is indeed gearing up to revisit its beloved treasure-hunting franchise once it wraps up work on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

This new installment in the Uncharted series is expected to be an original game rather than a remake. Shaun Escayag, a seasoned developer who rejoined Naughty Dog in 2021 after his stint on Marvel’s Avengers, is reportedly at the helm of this project. Nathan Drake, the series’ iconic protagonist, is also set to make a return, although details about his role remain unclear. It appears that the project is still in the early conceptual stages, meaning many aspects could evolve as development progresses.

Adding weight to this report is industry insider NateTheHate, who recently indicated that Escayag was not involved with any of the Last of Us projects that the studio has hinted at. He later confirmed that Escayag is indeed focused on a new Uncharted game.

Further fueling speculation, Escayag shared a photo earlier this year on Instagram featuring an old cannon at Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago, which fans are interpreting as a nod to the series. While the signs point to an Uncharted revival on the horizon, the slow pace of game releases from Naughty Dog during the PlayStation 5 era leaves fans wondering when they might actually get to experience it.

Naughty Dog has promised a full reveal of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in 2027, so the earliest fans might expect to see a new Uncharted title could be sometime in the first half of the PS6 lifecycle.
