Fortnite Kicks Off Halloween with Hollow Knight and New Additions
October has arrived, marking the start of the spooky season. While Halloween is still a bit away, several games are already getting into the spirit, and Fortnite is no exception. The Fortnitemares event has kicked off, bringing players a host of eerie skins, themed quests, exciting items, and a slew of collaborations to anticipate.
Previous teasers and trailers for Fortnitemares hinted at several collaborations, including iconic franchises like Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Obsession. The gameplay trailer ramped up the excitement by revealing even more franchises, with Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, and Predator set to join the fray later this month.
In addition to the numerous collaborations, there are also original cosmetics to discover. One standout is Jack-A-Nape, a monkey skin that players can earn for free. To unlock Jack-A-Nape, players need to complete a total of 26 Fortnitemares quests.
The Pumpkin Launcher remains a fan-favorite item during Fortnitemares, with its nostalgic sound of pumpkins launching from the tube. Since it’s only available once a year, players should learn how to unlock it quickly to avoid missing out. This year, the Pumpkin Launcher won’t be found in the standard loot pool; instead, players must use Sprite Dust to access it through the Loot Hacks menu.
In this update, players can utilize the following loot hacks: Loot Hacker sprite variant, Infantry Rifle, LMG, Pumpkin Launcher, Last Call, and Slap Candy Corn.
Inspired by Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy’s Nightmare is a new melee weapon that allows players to slash through enemies and unleash devastating combos. Pair this weapon with the 99 Nights in the Forest Deer sprite, which enhances melee attacks, for maximum effectiveness. Additionally, players will need to collect the Vampire, Spooky Dash, and Dumpster Dive sprites.
For those seeking chaos and an arsenal of powerful event weapons, Blitz Royale is the place to be. This game mode will feature familiar items from past Fortnitemares, such as the Witch Broom, alongside new weapons. But Blitz isn’t the only exciting mode returning this update; Horde Rush is back as well. Similar to Demon Rush, players will now level up in Horde Rush and unlock perks to enhance their character’s stats, helping them survive longer and reach the final boss to enter endless mode.
In Battle Royale, don’t miss the new Halloween-themed points of interest, but tread carefully in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, where animatronics are always on the prowl. If you’re up for the challenge, take them down to possess them, gaining extra HP, shields, and a free revive.
Fortnitemares runs until November 1.
