X-Men Actor Shares Surprising Method for Taking on the Role of Professor X in the MCU

When actors prepare for a role, they often discuss the importance of getting into their character’s mindset. It’s crucial to grasp how someone thinks to deliver a convincing performance. For Christopher Abbott, stepping into the shoes of Professor X in the Marvel Cinematic Universe means honing his skills in understanding others.

During San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Abbott will portray Charles Xavier in the upcoming X-Men reboot. Filming is expected to kick off next year, with the movie slated for release on May 5, 2028. Abbott is already diving into his preparation. In a chat with Josh Horowitz on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, he mentioned that while he won’t fully embrace method acting or attempt to become psychic, he has explored the concept of remote viewing.

“This might make me sound a bit eccentric,” Abbott admitted. He recounted an exercise where a friend sketched a picture in a house on Long Island, and Abbott attempted to replicate it using his mental abilities. Although he didn’t nail the drawing, he got close to depicting a large painting in the room. “It’s all about crystals,” he noted, adding that it would take about half an hour to share the full story of his experiences pushing the boundaries of human consciousness.

After years of waiting, Marvel is finally set to introduce the X-Men into the MCU in 2028. Jake Schreier, known for directing *Thunderbolts*, is at the helm of this project, collaborating with writers Joanna Calo and Lee Sung Jin. Sadie Sink, who made her debut as Jean Grey in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, will reprise her role in the X-Men film.

At SDCC, Sink joined Marvel’s Kevin Feige on stage to announce more cast members. Alongside Abbott, Kit Connor will take on the role of Cyclops, Inde Navarrette will portray Rogue, Maya Boyd will be Storm, and Adam Driver is set to play Mister Sinister. Reports also indicate that Samara Weaving will portray Emma Frost, and Asa Germann will take on the role of Angel.

But seriously, where’s Beast?
