Arc Raiders Goes Free-to-Play for Four Days with Major Update Launch

October is shaping up to be an exciting month for Arc Raiders. The Frozen Trail update is set to launch on October 8, bringing with it a host of new features. Shortly after, a PvE matchmaking beta test will roll out, offering a more laid-back experience that players have been asking for. To top it off, everyone will have the opportunity to dive into the Frozen Trail update during the game’s free-to-play weekend.

From October 8 at 5 a.m. ET to October 12 at 4 a.m. ET, Arc Raiders will be available for free on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. This limited-time trial grants players full access to the game, allowing for extensive exploration throughout the event.

Despite a decline in concurrent player numbers since its launch, Arc Raiders still boasts an active community. The free-to-play weekend, coinciding with the Frozen Trail update, is likely to draw many players back into the fold. This update will introduce a new map, a Battle Pass, a frigate patrol vessel, various new enemies and challenges, weapon mods, a camera gadget, and fresh weapon skins.

It’s great to see that players will have a chance to experience the game. However, there are concerns about the potential for increased cheating, as the free trial could lead to a surge in new players. While efforts have been made to combat cheating, maintaining control has been a challenge. The Frozen Trail update is not expected to include new anti-cheat measures, so it remains to be seen if existing protections will hold up during the free-to-play weekend.

Arc Raiders is available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

No more monthly updates, Embark says.
