A RuneScape animated series is in the works featuring a renowned content creator.

In exciting news from RuneFest, Jagex has announced that development is underway for RuneScape 4, and the beloved MMO is also set to receive an animated adaptation. While details are still emerging, we know that Lyrical Animation, a branch of the independent film production company Lyrical Media, is behind the project.

Lyrical Media has an impressive portfolio that includes titles like Bruiser, The Death of Robin Hood, and Onslaught. They are also working on an animated film for Bloodborne and another project titled Death Stranding: Mosquito, based on the popular video game series.

Adding to the excitement, the upcoming RuneScape animated series is being produced in collaboration with Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White, a major figure in the gaming content creation scene. During a virtual briefing prior to RuneFest, a Jagex representative shared that White’s involvement is significant, as he is a dedicated player and a huge fan of the franchise, making this project a true passion for everyone involved.

The announcement highlighted Jagex’s ambition to expand the RuneScape universe beyond gaming, partnering with White and Lyrical Media to bring the rich world, characters, and stories of Gielinor to life in this new animated format.

While the specifics of White’s role remain under wraps, he has experience in the entertainment industry, having appeared as an extra in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, and has lent his voice to various web shows, dubbed anime, and video games. He is also collaborating with Lyrical Animation on an animated adaptation of his graphic novel series, Godslap.
