Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Now Streaming Exclusively on Crunchyroll
A new chapter in the Dragon Ball saga is on the horizon with the upcoming release of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, set to debut on October 11 in Japan. Fans around the globe won’t have to wait long, as Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream new episodes of Beerus starting on the same day.
In a recent announcement, Crunchyroll revealed that subtitled episodes of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be available in the United States, Canada, Latin America (including Brazil), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Europe. This means viewers will get access to the episodes nearly a week before they appear on Netflix, which will feature the premiere episode on October 17.
While Crunchyroll’s announcement focuses solely on subtitled episodes, it remains silent on the possibility of an English dub. If the rollout mirrors that of the previous series, Dragon Ball Daima, we might see subtitled episodes starting in October 2024, with English-dubbed versions following in January 2025.
Unlike Dragon Ball Daima, which introduced a fresh narrative, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus revisits familiar territory. The characters of God of Destruction Beerus, the angel Whis, and Goku’s Super Saiyan God form first appeared in the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. This storyline has already been adapted in both the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga, making this the fourth time fans will engage with it.
Additionally, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will explore Frieza’s comeback, originally depicted in the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ movie and later adapted in the Super anime and manga. At the very least, the Beerus anime will keep fans entertained until the release of Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, which was announced earlier this year alongside Beerus but currently lacks a release date.
Is Beerus’s latest appearance a much-needed revival or just another instance of diminishing returns?
