Arc Raiders and The Finals Set to Become Movies and TV Shows
It looks like both Arc Raiders and The Finals are set to make their way to the screen. A co-producer has announced that they’ve secured adaptation rights from Nexon-owned Embark Studios, with plans to develop both TV series and movies based on these games.
Patrick Söderlund, founder and CEO of Embark Studios, mentioned that the team will collaborate closely with the production company on these projects. He expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that this agreement is a significant step in evolving Arc Raiders and The Finals into rich transmedia experiences that cater to their dedicated global player base. The creative teams at Embark will ensure that the unique essence of both games translates well into these new formats.
In a recent interview, an executive producer from Embark shared that discussions were underway to explore other mediums for Arc Raiders. However, he noted that they were still in the early stages, suggesting that these newly announced projects may take some time to materialize.
The president of film at the production company highlighted that Arc Raiders and The Finals represent the kind of ambitious global intellectual properties they aim to develop into major franchises across film and television. The company, founded in 2009, has a history of co-producing successful films and is currently working on a Mega Man adaptation for Netflix.
Arc Raiders has emerged as one of the most popular extraction shooters, selling over 16 million copies since its release on October 30, 2025. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where machines known as Arcs have taken over the surface, humanity is forced to live underground. The game is gearing up for its major Frozen Trail update on October 8, 2026, which will introduce a new map, additional enemies, “amplified weapons,” and more. Players can enjoy the full game for free for four days alongside the expansion.
On the other hand, The Finals is set in a virtual reality game show in the year 2100, featuring a wide array of firearms and explosives. Since its launch on December 7, 2023, the game has attracted around 30 million players and continues to receive significant updates, including enhancements to its destruction system. However, both games have faced criticism for their AI-generated voice acting, which many players found distracting. Fans are hopeful that the upcoming screen adaptations will improve on this aspect.
Embark has announced that there will be no more monthly updates.
