New Battlefield Trailer Hints at Dead Space Revival

Despite the rave reviews for the 2023 remake of Dead Space, the sci-fi survival-horror series from Electronic Arts is currently sidelined due to disappointing sales of the game-of-the-year contender. However, EA hasn’t completely shelved the franchise, as evidenced by a new trailer for the upcoming season of Battlefield 6. It appears that Battlefield players will soon encounter the mysterious Markers from Dead Space in a limited-time game mode.

The trailer for season 5 of Battlefield 6 primarily showcases new maps, including a destructible Las Vegas Strip and the infamous Area 51. True to form, the trailer is packed with the expected chaos and destruction, along with hints of what’s to come: six new weapons, two new vehicles, and a fresh, fast-paced Battle Royale mode called Rapid Royale that will be free to play.

The final moments of the season 5 trailer offer a glimmer of hope for Dead Space enthusiasts. Viewers are treated to a glimpse of two soldiers clad in armor reminiscent of Isaac Clarke, with a menacing double-helix Marker looming ominously behind them. EA hints that this mode will be part of a dark, limited-time Halloween event.

Dedicated Battlefield fans may already have an idea of what to expect, thanks to datamined information regarding the Dead Space-themed mode.

According to leaks from a month ago, the Dead Space event will transport Battlefield 6 players to Area 51 for a PvE Rush-style experience. The Rush mode, also known as Gold Rush, has been a staple in many Battlefield titles since the original Bad Company. In this mode, two teams—Attackers and Defenders—compete to either destroy or protect specific objectives. The Dead Space variant will reportedly have players battling waves of “Marked Soldiers” while trying to destroy Marker Shrines. Additionally, a special event weapon is expected to be available as a Battle Pickup.

Dataminers have also uncovered two RIG suit skins inspired by Isaac Clarke’s armor, along with a trio of weapons that draw from the Dead Space universe.

Battlefield 6 isn’t the first title in the series to nod to Dead Space. Previous games, including Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield Hardline, have included modes and Easter eggs referencing the sci-fi franchise. However, this time, the connection is more significant: in 2024, EA enlisted the Dead Space remake team at Motive to assist in the development of the latest Battlefield installment.

Battlefield 6 is available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, just like the 2023 Dead Space remake. Season 5 of Battlefield 6 launches on October 13.
