Farewell to the top RPG available on Game Pass
It’s a new month, and that means Game Pass is gearing up for a fresh lineup of games. The Xbox and PC gaming subscription service is welcoming a variety of exciting titles, including the roguelike platformer Neon Abyss 2, the Napoleonic soulslike Valor Mortis, and the popular multiplayer shooter Battlefield 6. However, the real story this October might be the games that are set to leave Microsoft’s gaming library.
Starting October 15, Game Pass members will need to bid farewell to several notable titles, including A Plague Tale: Requiem, Donut County, and Pacific Drive. The most significant departure is likely Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the acclaimed French RPG that took home Game of the Year honors in 2025. This RPG is relatively concise, with How Long To Beat estimating an average playtime of just under 30 hours for the main story. However, the real charm of any great RPG lies in its side quests, and depending on how many you tackle, Expedition 33’s playtime can stretch up to 69 hours.
With its captivating narrative about a civilization on the brink of collapse and its dynamic turn-based combat, Sandfall Interactive’s debut title received widespread praise last year. It dominated the major gaming awards in 2025 and set a record as the most-played game on Game Pass that year.
If you haven’t yet dived into this gem and have Game Pass, time is running out. If you’ve started but set it aside, there’s a bit more leeway, but you still need to reach the Paintress soon. For those who have already completed Sandfall Interactive’s beloved RPG, now is a perfect opportunity to explore the free DLC, Verso’s Drafts. This expansion introduces a photo mode, stylish new outfits, and some challenging encounters that require precise parrying. You might also consider replaying the game—knowing the story can enhance the experience.
And if you’re still on the fence about whether Expedition 33 lives up to the hype, check out how even some of its biggest critics have come around. But if you’re already a Game Pass subscriber, you can experience it for yourself!

A collector’s edition of Clair Obscur was confiscated by Iraqi customs, which believed it might have historical significance.
