Nvidia’s RTX Spark laptops launch with prices reaching $7,000.

The initial lineup of laptops featuring Nvidia’s new RTX Spark chip is set to take on the premium MacBook Pro models, and they come with equally premium price tags. The flagship Surface Laptop Ultra and RTX Spark machines from brands like Dell, Lenovo, MSI, HP, and Asus kick off at around $2,599 for models equipped with an 18-core CPU, 24GB of unified memory, and 512GB of storage. This pricing is comparable to a similarly configured 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip, although Apple offers 1TB of storage in that model. Naturally, both the RTX Spark and Apple laptops can escalate in price significantly.

Among the pricing details available, a fully loaded Asus ProArt P16 RTX Spark laptop featuring a 20-core chip, 128GB of unified memory, and 2TB of storage can reach up to $6,999.99. The complete range of configurations for Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra remains unclear, as the preorder page currently only allows for email sign-ups for updates. However, a model with 48GB of RAM listed on Best Buy is priced at $3,999.99.

High-priced laptops are nothing new; for instance, you can customize a 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Max chip to nearly $10,000 if you select all the top-tier options. The initial offerings of RTX Spark laptops are clearly targeting the high-end market, particularly for creators and local AI enthusiasts. The ongoing RAM shortage isn’t making things any easier for buyers either.

Will these laptops deliver on their promise? We’ll find out soon, as the Surface Laptop Ultra and other RTX Spark models are set to launch this month, with some available as early as October 16th.
