Omarchy, the contentious Linux distribution, receives $1.5 million in computing support from SpaceXAI.
If Elon Musk and SpaceXAI were to support a Linux distribution, Omarchy would likely be their choice. Recently, it was revealed that SpaceXAI is joining the Omacom Foundation, which manages Omarchy, as a Founding Corporate Patron, contributing $1.5 million in Grok tokens to David Heinemeier Hansson’s Linux initiative. In a blog post detailing the collaboration, Hansson mentioned that these tokens will mainly be utilized to speed up development, conduct code reviews, and fix bugs.
Hansson, a Danish entrepreneur recognized for developing Ruby on Rails and co-founding Basecamp, has also gained attention for his controversial views on immigration, which he has expressed in blog posts. In a July entry, he controversially likened immigrants to wolves, stating, “When wolves get out of control, you shoot them.”
1Password and Cloudflare have faced backlash for their involvement with Omarchy. When questioned about their support for Hansson’s Linux project during a podcast, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince remarked that he didn’t believe it was his responsibility to “police different people’s political beliefs.”
