Season 2 Update Brings Gambling to Wardogs

As season 2 of Wardogs kicks off next week, players will have the chance to bet on their own in-game performance. The game features a cash-based economy where every action earns in-game currency, and the new wager vendor allows players to raise the stakes each time they respawn.

According to the season 2 patch notes, players can “build a slip from actions (what you intend to do) and conditions (restrictions you accept in return for better odds).” Meeting these conditions can boost payouts, but breaking them will void the wager. A “live wager tracker” will be displayed above the minimap on your HUD, keeping you updated on your stakes and progress. The developers have indicated that this is an experimental feature that may evolve throughout the season based on player feedback.

But that’s not all; significant changes are on the horizon. The blue team, Lonestar, has struggled since the game’s launch, but season 2 will incentivize players to choose it. Lonestar will benefit from cash and XP bonuses for wins, along with multipliers for teamplay actions, aiming to shift the perception that players avoid the blue team.

To address visibility issues, Lonestar uniforms will be desaturated to blend in better with other factions. On the map Bakurani, faction spawns have been relocated, and routes to the control zone have been specifically designed. Additionally, any team trailing by at least 40 points will receive a 20% discount at vendors, not just the blue team.

Team-switching mechanics are also being tightened. If a team is ahead by more than 10 points, players cannot switch teams for 15 minutes after joining. When switching teams or entering a match mid-way, the map will remain obscured until players reach the control zone, and the spawn vehicle will be unavailable until they do so for the first time. These changes aim to curb potential abuses of team-switching.

Season 2 will introduce rain as a new weather effect, complete with thunder during heavy downpours. This weather can strategically mask footsteps and gunfire, adding a new layer to gameplay. Players can also look forward to four new weapons, four new vehicles, three new buildables, and Molotov cocktails.

Lastly, numerous balance changes are on the way, with several key adjustments highlighted in the patch notes.
