Star Trek: Starfleet Academy to Conclude with Final Season Early Next Year
At New York Comic Con, Paramount held a panel to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. Before diving into a lighthearted discussion between Ben Stiller and William Shatner, the cast and crew of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy took the stage to share some exciting details about the upcoming second and final season.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2 is set to premiere in March 2027, roughly a year after the first season concluded. While a trailer for the new season hasn’t been released yet, attendees were treated to a sneak peek featuring one of the new characters.
On stage, executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, along with several main cast members, hinted at what fans can look forward to. A notable reveal is that Nahla’s parents will make an appearance in at least one episode, with Bill Nighy cast as her father and Rosmarie DeWitt as her mother. Holly Hunter, who plays Nahla, will also portray Nahla’s twin sister in that episode.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the second season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy would be its last, which means it won’t have the longevity of many other Star Trek series. While this wasn’t directly addressed during the panel, the cast seemed enthusiastic about the opportunity to further explore their characters and develop them in new and engaging ways.
The second season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will debut on Paramount Plus in March 2027, featuring ten episodes. In addition to this announcement, Blumhouse teased its upcoming slate of horror films, and fans got a first look at the next Marvel Comics-themed set of Magic: The Gathering cards.
The show embraces young adult themes while delivering genuine stakes for the cadets and the Federation.
