New Naruto Manga and Crossover Anime Set to Launch Before 2030

Naruto made a significant splash at New York Comic Con this year, revealing a slew of exciting new projects set to launch over the next few years. This initiative, dubbed Project Rasengan, is mapped out through 2029 and includes a crossover anime with Ninku, a fresh manga from series creator Masashi Kishimoto, and more.

The panel kicked off by showcasing the much-anticipated new Naruto anime, which takes an unexpected turn. It’s a limited series crossover with Ninku, aptly named Naruto x Ninku. For those unfamiliar, Ninku is the martial arts shonen manga and anime that inspired Kishimoto during the creation of Naruto.

Production for the anime is underway, and while the roadmap hints at a 2027 release, the teaser trailer doesn’t confirm this timeline just yet.

Also slated for 2027 are the Naruto Card Game and a Western release of a mobile game that has been exclusive to China until now. The panel revealed artwork for various cards and announced a simultaneous global launch for the base game and its first booster pack in June 2027. In-store demos for the card game are set for February and March.

On the mobile front, Naruto Mobile has been available only in China since 2016, but Bandai Namco is finally bringing it to a global audience. However, they haven’t provided a specific release window, even though it’s positioned close to 2027 on the roadmap. More details about the mobile game’s worldwide launch are expected at Jump Festa 2027 this December.

The panel also confirmed that a live-action Naruto movie is in development. While no teasers or casting news were shared, director Destin Daniel Cretton sent a heartfelt message that was read during the panel. He expressed his admiration for Naruto as a character, emphasizing the spirit fans can expect from his adaptation.

“What I’ve always loved about Naruto is that he’s the character who might normally get sidelined as a sidekick,” he shared. “He’s excitable, he tries too hard, and people underestimate him. But he has an incredible heart. No matter how many times he fails or gets knocked down, he never stops believing in himself or fighting for the people he loves. That spirit is at the heart of the story we’re telling.”

Additionally, the panel confirmed that the Naruto Shippuden Symphonic Experience will be coming to the United States and teased new franchise-related merchandise, though those were not the main highlights. The spotlight was on Naruto: Shadow Rising, a new manga from Masashi Kishimoto. Details are still under wraps, but more information will be revealed at Jump Festa 2027.

After a few years of relative quiet, the Naruto franchise is making a triumphant return for its 25th anniversary. Thanks to Project Rasengan, fans can look forward to at least eight new Naruto releases before the decade wraps up.
