Avengers: Doomsday Features a Unique Magic Card with a Twist
December 18 is a date that Marvel enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting, as it marks the theatrical debut of Avengers: Doomsday. Attendees at select screenings will have the chance to snag an exclusive Doctor Doom Magic: The Gathering card, but there are some criteria to meet.
This giveaway card is a unique version of the “Doctor Doom, King of Latveria” commander card from the Doom Prevails preconstructed deck. While it doesn’t boast any special abilities, it features distinct artwork and will only be available during Avengers: Doomsday screenings. In the original artwork, Doctor Doom is depicted seated on a throne with a magic orb, whereas the Regal Cinemas exclusive card showcases him standing ominously amidst a swarm of Doombots.
Magic: The Gathering cards can fetch high prices, sometimes reaching thousands or even millions of dollars, so it will be interesting to see how the market reacts to this new card. Given the hype surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, it’s bound to attract attention.
The film will hit theaters across the United States on Friday, December 18. This opening week is set to be a monumental clash in the sci-fi genre, as Doomsday shares its release date with Dune: Part Three, another highly anticipated film that has already sold thousands of advance tickets. Unfortunately for Marvel fans, IMAX screenings for Doomsday will not be available during the opening weekend, as Dune has claimed those showtimes for the initial weeks. Instead, Marvel Studios will present it in “Infinity Vision.”
For those who may not know, Infinity Vision is a certification by Disney for premium screens, ensuring an enhanced viewing experience for their releases. Fans eager to catch Doomsday in an Infinity Vision theater during its opening weekend might want to consider Regal Cinemas, especially if they’re hoping to grab the “Doctor Doom, King of Latveria” Magic: The Gathering card, which likely influenced this collaboration.
