NASA Releases 800GB of Artemis II Data for Public Access

If you thought you had seen everything from the Artemis II mission, think again. This week, NASA unveiled a massive archive of over 800GB filled with scientific data, images, and videos on the Artemis II: Sights & Sounds of Science site. The collection features more than 11,000 photos and videos, along with over 8.5 hours of audio, including crew-annotated images that highlight where they spotted impact flashes on the Moon’s dark side. This treasure trove provides an extraordinary glimpse into a landmark space mission.

One of the standout moments is the footage of the Artemis II team sharing their discovery of impact flashes with the ground crew in Houston. While impact flashes have been recorded before, those observed on the Moon’s far side might be the faintest ever seen by the human eye, and the excitement in the clip is infectious.

In addition to the data release, NASA also provided three documents to enhance the wealth of information available. These include the Artemis II Preliminary Lunar Science Report, the Artemis II Lunar Science Operations Report, and the Artemis II Lunar Science Data User Guide.
