Life Is Strange series on Prime Video reaches a significant milestone

Just over a year ago, it was announced that a TV series based on the original *Life Is Strange* game was in the works. Since then, we’ve seen a few casting updates, but a release date is still under wraps. The latest news is that filming has officially wrapped, marking a significant milestone for the adaptation.

This update came from the show’s cinematographer, Vincent De Paula, who shared the news on Instagram with a post featuring a collage of Polaroid-style images from the production, including a shot of the two lead characters alongside classic key art from the game. His caption expressed excitement, stating, “Can’t wait to show you what we did.”

Interestingly, the filming wrap coincided with the in-game timeline, which takes place from October 7 to 11.

The *Life Is Strange* series is being penned by Charlie Covell, known for *The End of the F***ing World*, who will also take on the roles of executive producer and showrunner. Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins will portray Chloe and Max, the central characters. The supporting cast features Tom Cullen, Leisha Hailey, Raúl Castillo, Owen Teague, Billy Barratt, Emily Carey, Esther McGregor, Faly Rakotohavana, and Mia Isaac. Karyn Kusama, recognized for her work on *Jennifer’s Body* and *Yellowjackets*, will direct the first two episodes. Details on the total number of episodes and a release window are still pending.

This year also saw the launch of *Life Is Strange: Reunion*, which acts as a sequel to both 2024’s *Double Exposure* and the original 2015 game, bringing Max and Chloe back together. Marketed as the conclusion to their story, the game aimed to address fan concerns regarding the portrayal of their relationship in *Double Exposure*. Reception was mixed; some critics felt the narrative leaned too heavily into a fan-fiction vibe, while others appreciated it as a fitting farewell for the characters.

While *Reunion* marks the end of Max and Chloe’s journey in the games, it’s uncertain if this signifies the conclusion of the series itself. Square Enix did mention that *Reunion* surpassed their sales expectations, although those expectations were notably low following the disappointing performance of *Double Exposure*. As of now, no new announcements have been made, leaving fans to speculate about the future of *Life Is Strange*. The upcoming TV series might just spark renewed interest in the franchise.

Additionally, Don’t Nod is reportedly considering layoffs as part of a new transformation initiative.
