Elon Musk contributes more than $276 million to support Republican midterm campaigns.
Elon Musk has contributed at least $276 million to Republican organizations since July, making him the party’s top known donor and the largest established donor for the midterm elections. A significant portion of this, $158 million, has been directed to the Senate Leadership Fund, a major super PAC focused on securing a Republican majority in the Senate. This fund is particularly invested in retaining the party’s Senate seat in Texas, a key area for Musk’s business interests.
Additionally, Musk has donated over $76 million to America PAC, a super PAC he established in 2024 aimed at reaching hard-to-access Republican voters. He has also made notable contributions to other conservative groups, including:
* $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund super PAC for House Republicans
* $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, which supports Ken Paxton’s Senate bid in Texas
* $10 million to the Republican Governors Association
* $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association
Overall, Musk’s contributions to federal committees during the 2025-26 election cycle total around $366 million, surpassing the $290 million he donated in 2024 to support President Trump’s campaign, when he had committed to spending “around $45 million a month.” This comes despite his announcement in May of the previous year that he would be reducing his political spending in the future, a promise he has yet to uphold.
