October Brings One of the Strongest PlayStation Plus Lineups in Recent Memory

The crisp air and abundance of pumpkins signal that we’re deep into the spooky season, also known as October. However, this month’s lineup of games hitting the PlayStation Plus catalog isn’t particularly terrifying—unless you find great games to be frightening.

On October 14, PlayStation revealed the next batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium titles that will be added to the subscription service. Keep in mind that not all of these games will be available immediately; we’ve included the release dates below to help you plan your gaming sessions.

The only games that might evoke a slight chill this month are The Midnight Walk, Poppy Playtime Chapter 2, and Dino Crisis 2. While I would have loved to see more genuinely scary titles for the season, these additions are still solid picks. Alongside the creepier options, PS Plus subscribers can also look forward to the fantastic semi-open world crime game Mafia: The Old Country and the co-op looter-shooter Mycopunk, which has gained popularity on PC.

To access, download, and play these titles, you’ll need to be an active subscriber to the PS Plus Extra or Premium tiers, as the Essential tier does not include the game catalog. If your subscription lapses, you won’t be able to play these games until you resubscribe.
