GTA 6 Banner in Paris Features Censored Weapons
Grand Theft Auto 6 is just weeks away from its release on PS5 and Xbox, with the launch set for November 19. As the date approaches, Rockstar is ramping up its promotional efforts, rolling out a new trailer, various cover stories, and merchandise. This also means that murals and banners are appearing worldwide, including a notable one in Paris that has some fans raising eyebrows due to the absence of guns.
In the past two weeks, fans have been tracking the installation of a massive banner for Grand Theft Auto 6 on one of the Les Mercuriales towers in Paris. Reports confirmed that the banner, which features the game’s cover art, has been completed. However, keen-eyed fans noticed that the artwork has been altered to exclude two guns.
In the comparison images, you can see that Lucia’s gun has been removed from the top middle section featuring her and Jason. Additionally, an assault rifle has been taken out from the bottom middle image of the official cover art. In Lucia’s case, both her hand and the gun were removed, while the other adjustment shows just the character’s hand raised without a weapon.
In contrast, other banners and murals in the United States, such as one in NYC, still showcase artwork that includes guns.
It seems that the owners of the Paris tower are not too enthusiastic about having large firearms depicted on their building, even though they are happy to accept payment for advertising a game centered around guns. Perhaps there are also specific advertising regulations regarding firearms in Paris that play a role in this decision. Regardless, it all feels a bit absurd.
