Fortnite may soon welcome One Piece characters.
As we approach the conclusion of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, excitement builds for the upcoming annual mini-season. Rumors are swirling that this year’s theme will revolve around the beloved manga and anime series, One Piece. While Epic Games has yet to officially confirm the theme, a recent discovery in the game files may have provided fans with the hint they were looking for.
The latest update for Chapter 7 Season 4 dropped on October 15, introducing the final elements of Fortnitemares just in time for Halloween. Chapter 8 is set to overhaul the Battle Royale experience, bringing a new island, weapons, theme, and core mechanics. To ease players into this transition, Epic typically rolls out a mini-season between chapters.
These mini-seasons are themed events; last year, for instance, featured The Simpsons, transforming the map into Springfield and offering a mini-pass filled with themed, cell-shaded cosmetics. Recently, speculation has intensified around a potential One Piece mini-season.
Data miners have been sifting through the latest update and uncovered a mysterious pirate chest, which is believed to be tied to the season’s final event. This event is expected to transport players to a new location—possibly the Blue Planet.
Additionally, a new lore loading screen has surfaced, depicting Jonesy and Hope tumbling through a rift in reality alongside the pirate chest. While loading screens might seem trivial, they often weave into the broader Fortnite narrative. In this particular screen, Hope appears confident as she descends into a new map, while Jonesy is perched on a barrel. This imagery echoes a famous moment from Chapter 2 of the One Piece manga, where Luffy makes his debut emerging from a barrel on a beach—an iconic scene from the series’ early days. Is this just a coincidental nod, or could it be a subtle tease for the upcoming mini-season?
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 wraps up on November 1, coinciding with the launch of the mini-season.
