Netflix’s Dealies to Feature a Comedy-Centric Joe Bennet Series

Joe Bennet’s upcoming animated series is set to take a different direction from his previous projects, Scavengers Reign and Common Side Effects. The new Netflix series, Dealies, will delve into the quirky lives of employees at a big-box store, with an antique shop across the street adding a competitive twist.

In a recent interview discussing Common Side Effects, which is gearing up for its second season, Bennet shared some insights about Dealies, which is slated for release in 2027.

“My earlier original shorts leaned heavily into comedy. This new series draws more from that style,” Bennet explained. “It’s an episodic comedy featuring a cast of characters working together in a big-box retail environment.”

Steve Hely, who collaborates with Bennet on Common Side Effects but is not part of Dealies, described the new show as character-driven and focused on the peculiarities of everyday life.

“It’s quintessentially Joe Bennet—very character-centric and observational,” Hely noted. “It captures the oddities of characters that exist in our world, highlighting their quirks.”

Netflix announced Dealies earlier this year as an adult animated series, with Bennet and writer Ted Travelstead serving as showrunners, writers, and executive producers. The project is produced by Green Street Pictures, the studio co-founded by Bennet.

The official logline introduces a cast of eccentric employees, including “a savant salesman,” “a gentle gladiator,” and “a summoner of the divine,” along with the unfortunate individual who hired them. They are portrayed as masters of commerce who occasionally manage to get some actual work done.

Bennet previously co-created Scavengers Reign, a surreal sci-fi series about humans stranded on an alien planet, and Common Side Effects, an Adult Swim conspiracy comedy centered around a mushroom with world-altering potential. Both shows reflect his fascination with bizarre worlds and unconventional characters, while Dealies seems to bring that sensibility into a more familiar setting.

While Netflix has not yet revealed a specific release date for Dealies, the series is currently anticipated to debut sometime in 2027.
