Edgerunners Season 2 Reintroduces Hideo Kojima’s Character from Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk Edgerunners’ second season drops tomorrow, and while the 10-episode arc didn’t completely win me over, I’m always eager to dive back into Night City. Each visit brings a mix of nostalgia with its iconic sights and sometimes even familiar faces. This time around, you might spot a character who not only hails from Cyberpunk 2077 but also belongs to one of the most influential figures in gaming.

Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the Metal Gear series and Death Stranding, makes a cameo in Cyberpunk 2077 as Hideyoshi Oshima, a braindance producer visiting Night City during the “Heist” quest. He can be seen chatting with other hotel guests while you’re on the job. With his likeness captured in the game, he’s hard to miss if you know who he is.

Fast forward six years, and Hideyoshi makes a return in Edgerunners II. I was taken aback when I spotted him, and just as the review embargo lifted this morning, it was confirmed that Kojima indeed reprised his role for this cameo.
