First Trailer Reveals Release Date for New Halloween Thriller from Rebel Ridge Director

The mastermind behind thrillers like *Green Room* and *Rebel Ridge*, Jeremy Saulnier, is back with a new action-packed Halloween thriller titled *Slayground*, set to hit screens in 2027. The first trailer dropped recently, keeping fans guessing about the plot. What we do know is that *Slayground* kicks off with a devastating incident at a haunted attraction, leading to a gripping manhunt for the alleged perpetrator.

If *Slayground* follows the trend of Saulnier’s previous films, such as *Blue Ruin* and *Hold The Dark*, viewers can anticipate unexpected twists, intense and visceral violence, and a tightly woven atmosphere of suspense.

Here’s the official synopsis for *Slayground* (originally titled *October*, which feels more fitting for a fall release than a winter one):

Scare-actor “Metal Mike” Graves awakens in a haunted venue surrounded by the lifeless bodies of his colleagues, with no recollection of how they ended up there. As a state-wide manhunt intensifies, he races against time to uncover the truth—even if it leads him back to his own doorstep.

Saulnier not only wrote and directed *Slayground*, but the film also features a talented cast including Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, James Badge Dale, Stanley Simons, Stephen Root, Chris Sullivan, and Young Mazino. The score is crafted by the renowned duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Mark your calendars—*Slayground* is set to premiere in theaters on January 29, 2027.
