Marvel Rivals Introduces Epic 50-Player Mode to Relive Avengers: Endgame’s Climactic Battle
Marvel Rivals has found its way into my gaming rotation as a title I played for a couple of months and then set aside. However, as a dedicated Overwatch fan, I still keep an eye on NetEase’s hero shooter, especially since its success has pushed Blizzard to step up its game recently. With the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, the game is hosting events that recreate iconic moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latest event invites you and 49 friends to team up against Thanos and his army, reminiscent of the epic final showdown in Avengers: Endgame.
The Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Endgame event kicks off on October 24, challenging 50 players to take on a colossal Thanos and his alien forces. While the big purple titan is indeed larger than your average hero, allowing everyone to land some hits, he also boasts powerful area-of-effect abilities that can wreak havoc on multiple players simultaneously. The new trailer showcases Thanos calling down an aerial strike from his ship, capable of wiping out a whole squad in one go. He’s essentially a raid boss, and I’m intrigued to see how well 50 players can coordinate their efforts—or if they’ll even need to, given that Thanos seems like he could soak up a lot of damage.
If you manage to defeat him, winning the match rewards you with a scene featuring Tony Stark wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, snapping Thanos out of existence just like in Endgame. I have to admit, it’s a pretty touching moment. Will it be enough to make me reinstall the game? Not sure yet. But for those diving in, have a blast!
