LOUD Beat Vitality 3-1 to Win VALORANT Champions 2026 and Make History

LOUD are the VALORANT world champions for the second time. The Brazilian organisation defeated Team Vitality 3-1 in the Champions 2026 grand final at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai on October 18, becoming the first organisation in VALORANT history to win the world title twice. LOUD earned $1 million from the $2.25 million prize pool, while Vitality took home $400,000 as runners-up.

A Grand Final Rematch Goes LOUD’s Way

The final was a rematch of the upper bracket final, which LOUD won 2-1 two days earlier. Because they came from the upper bracket, LOUD had a map-ban advantage in the series, and they used it well. LOUD opened with a 13-11 win on Summit, and Vitality leveled the series by taking Lotus 13-8. LOUD then dominated Sunset 13-5 and sealed the title with a 13-10 victory on Haven.

LOUD’s first title came at Champions 2022 in Istanbul, and the new win makes them the only organisation with two Champions trophies. Chilean player erde was named tournament MVP, and teammates including tkzin and lukxo delivered key performances, with the team using flexible agent choices on Lotus, where Vitality held an edge. LOUD also became the youngest roster to reach a Champions grand final, which adds to the story.

Vitality, who earned their place through Championship Points, took a different route to the final. After losing the upper final to LOUD, they beat 100 Thieves 3-1 in the lower final to earn the rematch. It was a second-place finish that capped a strong run, even if they could not complete it.

The Road to Shanghai and the End of an Era

The tournament ran from September 24 to October 18 with 16 teams across two venues in Shanghai. The group stage was dominated by Americas and Pacific teams, and LOUD’s route to the trophy began with a 2-0 win over India’s Global Esports in the Group B decider on October 4. The playoffs featured four teams from the Americas, three from Pacific and one from EMEA, and defending champions NRG were among the Americas sides trying to become the first back-to-back winners. No Chinese team reached the playoffs despite the event being hosted in China.

Champions 2026 also marked the end of the franchise era. VALORANT esports will move to an open qualifier format in 2027, with partner teams remaining but more tournaments entering the calendar. Riot also used the grand final broadcast to reveal a new Duelist agent named Hush, a telekinetic character from Guangdong, China, just before the series began.

For LOUD, the victory represents both a legacy moment and a changing of the guard. The Brazilian team showed that a young roster can handle the pressure of a best-of-five final against a top European side, and they head into the new era as the most decorated organisation at the event. For the rest of the VALORANT world, the focus now shifts to what the open ecosystem will bring in 2027.
