Life is Strange Creator Shares Insights on Upcoming TV Adaptation
Following the wrap of filming for the upcoming adaptation of Life is Strange, the show has received a significant endorsement from the original game’s creators. Michel Koch, co-creator and director of the 2015 game, recently visited the set and shared his enthusiastic impressions of this new interpretation of the cherished story.
“This month, I experienced one of the most surreal weeks of my life,” Koch expressed in an Instagram post. “Being on the set of the #lifeisstrange show with my close friends Jean-Luc [Cano] and Luc [Baghadoust], surrounded by such an amazing bunch of people was a highlight of my career.” He emphasized his pride in what the show’s team has accomplished.
Koch specifically praised Tatum Grace Hopkins and Maisy Stella, who portray Max and Chloe, respectively. His post featured a photo of the duo alongside him, showcasing one of the best glimpses we’ve had of the characters in live-action. The image appears to be taken in the show’s rendition of the Two Whales Diner, a key location from the game.
The visit from Koch, Cano, and Baghadoust is significant for a crucial reason. While Don’t Nod created the series and developed the original game, they no longer own the franchise. After the release of Life is Strange 2, which they also developed, the series was handed over to Deck Nine, with Don’t Nod moving on to other projects. Consequently, Square Enix is producing the series, while Don’t Nod has no official role.
Nonetheless, it seems the TV show’s team recognized the importance of involving the original creators, even if it was just through a set visit. This gesture is likely to resonate with fans, as it demonstrates respect for the significance of these characters to both their creators and the audience.
The Life Is Strange TV series will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime, though a release date has yet to be announced.
