Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Delayed, Fans Express Excitement

Dragon Ball enthusiasts have made their voices heard regarding the upcoming action-RPG, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. While the announcement of a new installment after over a decade sparked excitement, that enthusiasm quickly waned when developer Dimps unveiled early gameplay footage. A particular design choice that raised eyebrows was the introduction of a time limit for Super Saiyan transformations.

This was just the beginning of the backlash, and it seems the development team is taking the feedback seriously, as the release window for Xenoverse 3 has been pushed back.

In the previous two Xenoverse titles, players could transform into Super Saiyan once they accumulated enough energy, allowing them to unleash their full power for the duration of a level—exactly what fans expect from a Dragon Ball game. However, the early footage for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 indicated that these transformations would now be limited to just one minute. This change prompted a wave of frustration across social media, with one Reddit user stating, “I hope to see the whole community bashing this idea nonstop until they change it, because they won’t do anything if they can pretend it’s only a minority of people.”

Players also voiced their dissatisfaction with the game’s user interface and graphics. Additionally, content creators encountered significant connection issues during their previews, leading many to feel that the game wasn’t quite ready for release.

In response, the development team seems to be listening. Producer Masayuki Hirano shared, “Today we shared more information about battle customization and PvE missions. I wanted to use this opportunity to deliver a message to our fans. Over the past several months, we have continuously revealed new information to all of you and, in return, have received valuable feedback. We are truly grateful for that support. Based on the feedback and survey results we have gathered, we have already held discussions with the development team and announced certain areas where we intend to make improvements in response.” While Hirano didn’t specify any changes, it’s likely that the Super Saiyan transformation issue is among the areas being addressed.

“Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a series that we build together with the players through launch, and throughout its post-launch life as well. To fully realize our ambitions for both the launch experience and the content we plan to operate and support afterward, the release window is currently set for the latter half of 2027.”

Although Hirano didn’t explicitly label it a delay—since Xenoverse 3 was initially slated for a broad 2027 release—it appears the team opted to extend development time in light of player feedback. Surprisingly, many fans are welcoming this news, as it allows for additional polish and potential adjustments to the Super Saiyan transformation mechanic.

Hirano also mentioned that updates may take some time. “We may keep you waiting a little longer until our next update, but we are fully committed to making 2027 a great year for Dragon Ball game fans, and we will do everything we can to make that happen.”

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
