Lucía the Table Tennis Champion Makes Her Comeback in Switch Sports Resort
This is Lucía:
If you’re not already feeling a bit anxious, let’s set the stage. Lucía is a Mii who has been part of the Wii series since the original Wii Sports, where she was just an average player. However, in Wii Sports Resort, she transformed into a table tennis powerhouse, becoming the Champion—the final NPC players must conquer to truly master the game.
When the successor, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, was revealed back in June, fans expressed disappointment over the absence of Miis, with some even claiming that Wuhu Island felt “colonized” by Sportsmates, the avatars that took over in Nintendo Switch Sports. Fortunately, Mii NPCs made a partial comeback in Switch Sports Resort, and players can adjust their frequency to effectively replace Sportsmates. Most importantly, the beloved Mii Champions from Wii Sports Resort are back.
Lucía, in particular, is a formidable opponent, and many players have taken to social media to vent about their struggles against her in table tennis. Check out this intense clip of a player desperately trying to score a single point against her:

Some players are thrilled to see this challenging NPC return, sparking nostalgia for the Wii days. Others, however, were less than pleased upon her reappearance:

Fans have been posting to see if anyone has actually managed to defeat Lucía yet. While some shared their victories, many joined in the frustration.
One player even mentioned (via Twitter’s automatic translation) that they had to apply a compress and hit the hay after over an hour of relentless matches against Lucía. Ouch.
