The first faulty iPhone Duos have arrived.
The iPhone Duo officially launches today, but reports are already surfacing about broken screens on some units. Users on Reddit have noted that the issue seems to occur in a consistent area: a problem manifests on the inner screen near the hinge, accompanied by a peculiar bright line or lines on the right side of the display.
One user from Australia shared their experience after just six hours of use, mentioning they had opened the device fewer than 20 times. They described a moment while showing it to a friend when they felt something unusual around the internal hinge beneath the screen. As they continued to open it, they heard a distinct crack, and the screen shattered right along the hinge. Notably, there were no visible marks or damage on the inner screen or the external hinge that would indicate any obstruction or prior damage.
This user reported that the Apple Store promptly replaced their device with a brand-new one on the spot.
Other posts have surfaced, including images of additional broken screens and videos demonstrating similar issues. A separate thread has also compiled various pictures of affected devices.
Apple has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the situation.
