Happy Ghast in Minecraft: How to Find and Tame the Friendly Nether Spirit

Minecraft has always been full of surprises, and the latest addition is no exception. During the recent Minecraft Live event, Mojang announced an exciting new update, introducing several new features — including the adorable Happy Ghast. This friendlier variant of the classic Ghast is making waves in the Nether. Unlike its hostile counterpart, the Happy Ghast spreads joy instead of destruction, adding a unique twist to the fiery underworld.

A Look Back at the Classic Ghast

Ghasts have long been one of Minecraft’s most iconic hostile mobs. Introduced in the Nether Update, these massive, ghost-like creatures float ominously through the Nether, unleashing explosive fireballs at unsuspecting players. Their haunting cries and sudden attacks make them a formidable foe for explorers.

What Makes the Happy Ghast Special?

The Happy Ghast doesn’t attack players on sight. Instead, it floats peacefully, emitting cheerful sounds that contrast the usual eerie cries of regular Ghasts. Players can even interact with it, sometimes receiving small gifts like Nether Wart or Glowstone Dust. This makes exploring the Nether a bit less daunting for newcomers.

  3. Submerge in Water: Place the Dried Ghast in water to initiate its transformation.

To ride the Happy Ghast, players will need to craft a Ghast Harness. This item requires:

  • 2 Glass Blocks
  • 3 Leather
