In a recent conversation with MP1st, Marvel Rivals game director Guangguang was asked about the possibility of entirely new characters being introduced through the game, similar to how Marvel films and shows have experimented with original creations in recent years.

Guangguang’s response left the door wide open:
“Yes, we are allowed to introduce original characters in Marvel Rivals.”

When pressed further on whether anything is currently in development, the director didn’t give a direct answer. Instead, he simply teased fans to “stay tuned.”

This doesn’t confirm that an original hero or villain is already in the pipeline, but it does make it clear that NetEase, the studio behind Marvel Rivals, has the freedom to expand beyond Marvel’s existing catalog if they choose to.

A Massive Roster Already in Play

For now, the game is still brimming with classic Marvel characters that span the Avengers, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, and beyond. With such a deep bench to draw from, the developers already have plenty of material to keep updates flowing without the immediate need for brand-new additions.
