James Gunn unveils the first Supergirl teaser, showcasing a distinct style compared to Superman.
Ahead of a trailer dropping later this week, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has teased fans with a sneak peek of Supergirl, showcasing a stark contrast to Superman.
In the brief clip, Milly Alcock’s Supergirl is seen lounging in a field as a spacecraft descends nearby. Dressed in jeans, a coat, and sunglasses rather than her iconic costume, she appears completely unfazed by the unfolding events.
The teaser trailer is set to release this week.
Kara Zor-El exudes a much more laid-back vibe compared to her cousin, and the film itself presents a distinct aesthetic, diverging from Superman’s brighter color scheme and urban focus.
Supergirl made her first appearance during the conclusion of Superman, albeit briefly. She also had a fleeting silhouette cameo in the revamped recap of Peacemaker season 2.
Gunn recently described Supergirl as “especially a space adventure,” likening it to Guardians of the Galaxy. He noted that Lanterns will have its own unique narrative, contributing to a larger universe that intertwines various storylines and elements.
As for Superman, fans can look forward to his next appearance in Superman: Man of Tomorrow, which serves as a sort-of sequel to the 2025 film, featuring Lex Luthor and Superman in an unlikely alliance against Brainiac, the main antagonist.
Supergirl is set to premiere on June 26, 2026, followed by the Lanterns series on the small screen. Stay tuned for all the latest updates on the DC Universe’s upcoming movies and shows.
