Apple’s chip leader could be the next executive to depart.
Mark Gurman has reported that Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies, has expressed to Tim Cook that he is “seriously considering” a move to another company soon. Back in October, it was noted that Srouji was “evaluating his future” at Apple. While nothing is set in stone, it appears he may be leaning towards leaving Cupertino.
If Srouji does decide to go, he would join a growing list of notable departures from Apple’s executive team. COO Jeff Williams announced his retirement in July, prompting some reshuffling of responsibilities. The pace of changes has picked up in December, with AI chief John Giannandrea stepping down, policy lead Lisa Jackson and general counsel Kate Adams revealing their retirement plans, and UI design lead Alan Dye moving to Meta, all occurring within just a few days.
Apple has faced challenges in adapting to the industry’s increasing focus on AI. Tim Cook now finds himself in a position to address these issues while also dealing with speculation about his own potential exit. Gurman, known for his reliable insights, has indicated that such rumors are premature, yet they contribute to the growing uncertainty surrounding a company that has typically been one of the more stable players in Silicon Valley.
