Pixel Users Can Now Utilize Their Phones as a Webcam for Switch 2
## Pixel Owners: Your Phone Can Now Serve as a Switch 2 Webcam
The latest update for Pixel devices has resolved a bug that previously hindered the use of Android’s webcam mode with the Nintendo Switch 2.
Since the Switch 2 lacks a built-in camera, players have relied on external webcams for video calls. However, if you own a Google Pixel, you can now bypass that need entirely. Recent reports confirm that the integration between Pixel phones and the Switch 2 works seamlessly without requiring any third-party applications.
Google introduced the capability for Android devices to function as external webcams two years ago with an update for Android 14, enabling USB Video Class mode (UVC). Unfortunately, this feature was not compatible with the Switch 2 until the November Pixel Drop.
How do we know this update made a difference? Before our Editor-in-Chief updated his Pixel to the November version, the webcam feature was non-functional. After the update, it worked perfectly.
Additionally, the release notes for the November firmware mentioned a fix for issues with webcam mode not functioning correctly with connected devices under certain conditions, further confirming the update’s significance. We’ve reached out to Google for official confirmation and will provide updates if we receive any new information.
