Court Documents Unveil Star Wars KOTOR 2 Remake Plans

Court documents from a false advertising lawsuit against Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr have revealed an intriguing detail: a remake of Obsidian’s _Knights of the Old Republic 2_ was in the works, and it might still be on the table.

Back in 2021, Lucasfilm and Aspyr announced a remake of the original _Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic_. However, by 2023, the project seemed to vanish, leading to concerns about its status. Despite co-developer Saber Interactive asserting in 2024 that the remake was still alive, updates have been scarce regarding this beloved RPG. Now, these court documents suggest that its sequel may also be receiving a similar treatment.

According to reports, the lawsuit documents mention a project codenamed “Project Juliet,” which Lucasfilm Games vice president Douglas Reilly confirmed is indeed a _KOTOR 2_ remake. The Switch port of _KOTOR 2_ was referred to as “Capulet.” Reilly described the project as a full remake featuring modern art and gameplay while preserving the original story and characters. He noted that discussions with Aspyr were ongoing.

When questioned about incorporating content from the fan-made _KOTOR 2_ Restored Content Mod, Reilly confirmed that was part of the plan. Unfortunately, details about the remake’s current status remain elusive. As of December 2025, the situation is still unclear. In a deposition from March, Reilly indicated that while the _KOTOR 2_ remake was “technically on the road map,” the focus was initially on the remake of the first game. He also mentioned that Aspyr is no longer involved, with development now in the hands of Saber-owned Mad Head Games.

Attempts to reach out to the involved parties for comments have gone unanswered, leaving fans in suspense about the future of these remakes. It appears that both projects may still be in the works, but until there’s official confirmation from Disney or Lucasfilm, the gaming community will have to wait for more information on these highly anticipated titles.
