A Unique 2025 Film Arrives on 4K Blu-ray This Month

This year, amidst the usual superhero flicks and unexpected hits, one standout film was Bugonia. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and featuring Emma Stone—who also stars alongside Jesse Plemons—this thriller may not have dominated the box office, but it certainly leaves a lasting impression. If you missed its initial release, you can now preorder it ahead of its December 23 launch, with options for a limited-edition 4K Blu-ray, standard 4K Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and DVD.

Bugonia is based on the 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet. The story revolves around two conspiracy-driven cousins (Plemons and Aidan Dobis) who believe that the CEO of a major corporation (Stone) is an alien intent on exterminating humanity. After they kidnap her and confine her in their basement, the film escalates into a tense game of wits, interrogation, and psychological torment, becoming increasingly unpredictable as it hurtles toward its climax. While it may not have been a box office sensation, Bugonia garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, thanks to its captivating performances and shocking plot twists.
