Tron: Ares to Release 4K Blu-Ray Steelbook Edition

The latest installment in Disney’s beloved sci-fi series, Tron: Ares, hit theaters earlier this year, diving deeper into the franchise’s lore. This new chapter follows Ares (played by Jared Leto), a self-aware AI who breaks free from the digital realm of Tron and steps into the real world. If you haven’t seen it yet or are looking to add it to your collection, preorders for the Tron: Ares Blu-ray are now available, with a release date set for January 6, 2026. The film will be offered in various formats, including a limited-edition steelbook priced at $45. Standard 4K Blu-ray, regular Blu-ray, and DVD versions are also up for grabs.

Despite its release earlier this year, Tron: Ares struggled at the box office, earning only $142 million globally and receiving mixed reviews from critics. However, audiences have shown more appreciation, recognizing the film’s efforts to expand the franchise’s themes and its impactful Nine Inch Nails soundtrack. Unlike its predecessors, which were set in the digital landscape of the Grid, Tron: Ares examines the consequences of that world merging with our own, focusing on the initial encounter between humans and digital AI.

The original Tron films have recently been remastered in 4K for the first time, featuring new cover art and legacy special features from previous Blu-ray releases. Walmart still has the steelbook edition of Tron: Legacy available, while Amazon offers a standard 4K Blu-ray version with fresh cover art and region-free playback.
