Razer revives the original gaming mouse in a special limited edition release.

Razer is making a nostalgic comeback by reintroducing the iconic gaming mouse that first hit the scene over 25 years ago, long before the gaming peripheral market even existed. The original Kärna Razer Boomslang was celebrated for its innovative encoding wheel, allowing for precise tracking at 2,000 DPI. The new Razer Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition retains the classic symmetrical ambidextrous design while upgrading to a cutting-edge 45,000 DPI optical sensor and other modern features.

This release marks the 20th anniversary of Razer’s establishment as a company, not just a brand. While details on pricing and availability are still under wraps, only 1,337 units will be produced. The latest Boomslang is fully wireless, boasting an impressive 8,000Hz polling rate for what Razer describes as “near-instant responsiveness.” It also comes with a rechargeable dock that features a sleek translucent plastic shell.

The primary buttons are now covered in synthetic leather for enhanced grip and utilize Razer’s Gen-4Crisp switches, which are rated for an impressive 100 million clicks. The new Boomslang includes a total of eight customizable buttons that can be programmed through Razer Synapse software. True to Razer’s style, the mouse also showcases 9-zone RGB lighting on the underside, which can be personalized or synced with over 300 different games.
