Introducing the New Lara Croft in the Upcoming Tomb Raider Game
Tomb Raider is making a triumphant return! During the 2025 Game Awards, Amazon Game Studios unveiled trailers for not one, but two exciting new Tomb Raider titles featuring the iconic Lara Croft.
The first reveal was Tomb Raider: Catalyst, showcasing a reimagined Lara Croft that hints at ties to the previous Survivor Trilogy.
Check out the trailer for Catalyst, set to launch in 2027:
Following this, we were treated to a trailer for the much-anticipated Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a lavish remake of the original Tomb Raider game that also appears to connect with the Survivor Trilogy and Catalyst.
Here’s the trailer for Legacy of Atlantis:
Details on Catalyst are still under wraps, but we know that Legacy of Atlantis is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. Amazon describes it as follows:
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a breathtaking reimagining of the 1996 classic that defined the genre. As Lara Croft, you’ll need to use your intellect and agility to navigate through exotic, time-lost locations—from the jungles of Peru to the ancient ruins of Greece, the deserts of Egypt, and a mysterious Mediterranean island steeped in legend. Overcome perilous terrains, solve intricate puzzles, and confront deadly foes as you search for the scattered pieces of the Scion, an artifact of immense power.
Both trailers suggest a return to a more classic version of Lara, complete with her dual pistols, confidence, and that iconic climbing move where she pulls herself up on ledges. Plus, dinosaurs are making a comeback in Legacy of Atlantis—and now they have feathers! It’s a fresh take on the beloved classic.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to release in 2026, while Catalyst will follow in 2027.
